Volt, an EV charging solutions provider, is the latest brainchild of Keppel Infrastructure Holdings Pte Ltd. It is a joint venture between the Singapore-based energy and utility services provider and Wanbang Digital Energy Pte Ltd (StarCharge), one of the largest EV charging point suppliers and operators in China.
Electric vehicles are gaining traction in Singapore, and are poised to play an important role in achieving a lower carbon footprint and greener transport targets under the Singapore Green Plan 2030. The plan aims to gradually phase out Internal Combustion Engine vehicles (ICE) by 2040 and install 60,000 charging points nationwide by 2030.
Keppel is also committed to playing its part by aiming to be an integrated business providing solutions for sustainable urbanization. As announced in its Vision 2030, The Keppel Group strives to help businesses and communities become more sustainable, contributing to a cleaner and greener world and Volt is one of Keppel Infrastructure’s latest initiatives in driving towards Vision 2030.
“Moving into the transport electrification business is a natural step for Keppel Infrastructure to tap on our capabilities and an opportunity to carve out a new complementary business segment. This is also in line with the Keppel Group’s Vision 2030 which envisions us providing solutions for sustainable urbanisation,” Ms. Cindy Lim, Chief Executive Officer of Keppel Infrastructure said.
On 27 October 2021, Keppel Infrastructure has announced its inaugural EaaS (Energy as a Service) partnership with Perennial Holdings Private Limited, becoming Singapore’s first-of-its-kind concept. The 1.5 million square feet eco business city is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2022. As part of the EaaS service, Volt will be installing 20 smart EV charging stations at Perennial Business City – the largest number of EV chargers installed in a single business park development in Singapore to date. Users can charge their EVs in a few simple steps with the Volt EV Charging App. They can leave their EVs to charge at ease while they work or shop as the smart app will notify users once their EV is fully charged.
